Auburn December 11th 1837
My dear Pa
I received your letter on the
3d of this month, I was very happy to get it.
I have had the ear ache since so that I
could not go to school, it has gathered and
broken twice, it is almost well now. Mr.
Rathbuns
larger than our cutter but there are two seats
in it. Ma
with his feet up to his chin. Grandpa
is going to get a new cutter this winter.
I have got all my books set up
on my shelf it looks like a little
library. Frederick
so too. We have got a new girl she
is an irish woman
morning at one oclock and began to wash.
We got a basket full cocoa beans from
Captain Chases
some indian meal and a bushel and a
half of corn for my ducks. When I go out
mornings to feed them they run after me
as quick as they see me. Grandpa
is going to put the pony before
the cutter to morrow and see if he will
go if there is snow. Frederick and I
read to Ma every night. Frederick
