My Dear W. H. Florida 17 Feb 1833
My official duties terminate
about the ninth of March. Anxious
to be released from its responsabilities
I fully determined to declair public-
ly at Dec. Term. A simultanious re-
quest of Gentlemen from all parts
of the County over persuaded
let this public expression rest.
I arrive at the Feb terms with the
full expectation that all friends
would think this measure advisable
but to my utter astonishment meetings
were held every day and night
last week to induce me not to
come out till they could hear
from Albany. Still protesting that
they honor no [ bet ]
Reason: holeter man. Van Duzer
was to write but no communicati-
on has come. Thus you perceive
how I am plased. Desirous of detecting
an offence I have derived all the
honor from I could ever expect.
And still pressed by my Old
honored and faithfull friends
not to disert them. They say if
I leave them their hope is gone.
Still I cannot learn they have
any prosspect of success. Your
one on the spot, and I most
earnestly wish you to give
me your views by the first possi-
ble opportunity. And if it is
necessary to send from Goshen on
purpose do so at my expense
