Florida 10th. Sept 1836
My dear Henry,
Yours of the 23rd & 26 Ult have been recieved we
congratulate you and our dear Francis
Birth: 1805-09-24 Death: 1865-06-21
on the birth
of a daughter
Birth: 1836-08-25 Death: 1837-01-14
under so favourable circumstances of
health and comfort, and most ardently
Hot or burning; causing a sensation of burning • Having the appearance or quality of fire; fierce • Warm; much engaged; passionate •
hope that
she may now be restored to health. Your change
of business and removal to Chatauqua seems yet
more like a dream than reality to us, but have
no doubt the result will be immensely to the
advantage of your self and little family.
I have more than ever been desirous of visiting
you previous to your leaving Auburn. When
we set out in May to see our friends at Mendham
I thought all things were aranged and in perfect
order for our tour to the West. But on my return
after only five days absence my calculations were
so unfortunately changed that it was inconsistent for
for me to think of leaving home untill I could
place my affairs in a more settled state. This
I have been all summer unsuccessfully striving
to do and never untill very lately have abandond
the pleasing Idea of once more visiting the great
West. But finally untoward and unforeseen circum-
stances which it is unnecessary here to repeat
have rendered my absence from home for any
length of time totally impractable I have felt &
been much hurt by the thought of placing you in so
awkward a dilemma as to be all the season looking
for us and our finally not geting there at all
Determined to go and many times set and yet
the sacrifice so great that it detered us from
starting. And now our only hope is to see you
in Florida soon, and hope you will so arrange
your affairs as to spend some time with us.
As soon as you can determine what time you
will be here write and let us know as it will
be long at best make our love and respects to all
friends.
Affectionately yours
Saml S Seward
