Editorial Note

A transcription of the other visible text can be seen in the Letter from Frances Miller Seward to Lazette Miller Worden, Ocotber 13, 1837

Auburn October 13th, 1837.
My dear sister,
I drop a line to say lest you may otherwise be
disappointed, that by looking at the map I find Canandai-
gua about as much in my way to Elmira as Canastota
is, I had promised Fan
Birth: 1805-09-24 Death: 1865-06-21
and myself the pleasure of vis-
iting you but must postpone it. If the weather will at all
permit and no unexpected obstacle occur I will carry
her to see you probably before I go West, and of at the far-
thest when I go West which I now think will be after
the Election, say 8th or 10th November.
We congratulate you on your being again in your own
house as Frances received your letter this evening and
will take order about the spoons.
Yours affectionately alway[ s ]
