My dear WmH
I wrote you sometime ^since^
to Auburn or Chaty not knowing which
place a letter would find you but have
received no answer—The appeal to
the Judges on the Quaker Creek Road will
soon be On again, and being Anxious
to take your Opinion and follow your di-
rection in the case—By one of our papers
I discovered you had arrived in New York
and concluded to write again to the City
Hall in hopes this would meet you there
The business has rested perfectly still the
last year, but I find efforts are making
to render it a political question and thus
carry their point. I am still favourable
to an Injunction if you think it advisable
and at all events I wish to be
thoroughly prepaired to meet them
at the time and earnestly hope
(as you have often stated to me that
that you could be on the Spot) and
attend to it yourself—This you
know has been a War of malignant oppo-
sition to the family—so far I have sus-
tained our credit and standing & now
I rather encounter any expenses rather
than be disgraised at last—I therefore be[ g ]
Reason:
you to write and let me know whe[ n ]
Reason:
then I may expect you here or what
Grounds are to be taken—Do commu-
nicate as soon as possible—
Your Affectionately
