Dear Henry
Van Hall
cannot execute the deeds sent him
last May, (100) nor those sent
by Henry Smith
as he says “the [ tittle ]
Alternate Text: title had passed
out of the H. L. Co before his
return”.!! Can you not write
him & argue him out of this
position. He must execute them
or we must make them all over
of new date, & new [ morgages ]
Alternate Text: mortgages
also.
I have spent two days, closely
and have only gotten to do 101
in describing your lots for sale
, fear I shall hardly have them
ready to send by Underwood

He is still out looking: expect
him home tonight.
The letters from W.
things are working at cross purposes
and it [ amazs ]
Alternate Text: amazes me to hear it.
When U. returns I will send
you. In the meantime allow
me to tax you once a week
to drop me a brief line how
things are working & how you
feel.
Old John Steward
Yours as ever
