Dear Henry
I have yours of the absorbing 12th.
Smith
the Farnsworth
I have ^been^ admonished, how little the great
public feel in relation to topicks of most
thrilling interest to the few. Today, I
was in Fredonia when the mail arrived,
desirous to be modest about my desire for
news, I hung about, watched every open-
ing seal, caught whispers & put
myself everywhere to learn what ^might^ be
communicated, & had the mortification
to find, not only that no one recieved
a single line of convention news, but no
one seemed either surprized or disap-
pointed that it was so. Another day
will tell the story. Kind Providence
send you a good deliverance
