Dear H. - Supposing you to be oppressed with
cares I have foreborne to express my happi-
ness that you are about to be discharged
from your responsibility to the Trust Co.
To me, it is matter of relief, to you it
must be much more so.
The Message is to hand. Of it
I am only disposed to say, I am
perfectly delighted with it - delighted

the end of the Bible - there is so

rassing to you I fear to know what
to do. A county convention is pro-
posed - a fair proceeding, as all ac-
knowledge who speak of it & get it
is easy to see that Ruggles
ed to lose by it, whoever may gain.
I was, at first, of opinion that the
pretensions of Mr Ruggles would be
set by the county generally, so much
above any other man's, that the case
would be easy for you - but it stands
at this time, very differently beyond dis-
pute. - Public opinion sets strongly
in another direction - and even Mullet
says he think Ruggles ought to sub-
mit his claims to this mode of
adjustment. The case grows embarrass-
ing - but I trust you will get safely
out of it. -
Friends here are anxious you should

interest. We sent Mr Duer
last day of Dec. - $3.100 to day - & we can
send $4.600 as soon as we can get an acknowl-
edgement from the Banks. We are too busy
to make a monthly statment this week
next week you shall have it - & the week
after I think I can get off - so that you
may expect me a little before the 1st of
Feb - or by that day.
The Lord bless you & give you
wisdom according to your respon-
sibilities & save you from dis-
