Dear H.
I have a letter from R.C.
Wheeler
in regard to his application for the ap-
pointment of Master in Chancery.
I owe friend Wheeler a large debt
of gratitude for favour & affection both
when it was little in my power to
repay him either, in a way worth his
notice: it would ^be^ therefore exceedingly
agreeable to my feelings if he could
be appointed. I am of opinion also
that it would result in a personal
benefit to me - but this I regard as
of comparatively small moment.
I am not want to be troublesome
to you in matters of this kind - nor
have I a word to say now, if this
appointment would be productive

of injury - but if you can believe it
be made consistant with your duty
I should rejoice. Please consider this
to come from a heart warmly en-
treated for my friend - including
no much as if the sheet were filled
with strong expressions.
Our printers one & all - built
from the arrangement made last year
to advertise economically
- I have just been round to see & quiet
them. A small advance upon the
price, satisfies them.
The lawyers complain - but not
to me - I hope to be able to keep
on terms with them.

of the business . -
Interests are coming in quite
well - but there is a sad falling
off in payments of principal: and
we are rarely, almost never selling
a piece of land.
I omitted to mention the partic-
ular anxiety of friend Wheeler
that the documents & papers
relating to his appointment
presented last year, shall be
born in mind this year: &
he thinks them very strong.
We are all well. -
Providence preserving, I shall be
in Auburn, the last of next week
& with you as soon as I can after.
Your grateful mourning
Brother

household matters, especially as they concern expense or disbursement • The internal, and especially pecuniary management of any undertaking,
