Florida 26th March 1841
My dear Henry
It is within a few days
only that the respectable inhabitants
of the Town of Warwick obtained the
information that an associate Judge
for this County was to be appointed
this Spring – on adverting to the
locations of the other incumbents
we are desidedly of opinion that this
section of the county is entitled to one
The people are very Unanimous
in presenting James Wood Esq
Birth: 1778-04-18 Death: 1853-04-24

as a candidate for this important
Officer – With this Gentleman you
are personally well acquainted
It is therefore unnecessary to say
further than that he is a man
of high reputation of a clear
discriminating mind has long
been convercent with Judiciary
business, and an active friend of
the Whig Cause – My constant in-
disposion & Sickness in the family
is my only apology for not moving

sooner myself in this business
but we confidently hope if the
appointments for the County are
not made before the Petitions reach
you that this our reasonable
applications may be sustained
Affectionately
Yours
Saml S Seward
William H Seward
Gov State N York
Please excuse my trembling hand
as I am very feeble
