New York June 30. 1841
My dear Mrs Seward,
I had only a moments notice
of Mr Weed’s
Birth: 1797-11-15 Death: 1882-11-22
going to Albany, or I should have written
you a line of explanation to accompany the hankf:
sent by him. I am doubtful whether it is such an one
as you desired. If not, or if it does not fit, will you return
it by Mr Blatchford .
Birth: 1798-04-23 Death: 1875-09-04
He will hand you $1.50 remain-
ing from the $3. I hope you have recovered from the
fatigues of your recent journey and ^are^ now enjoying the
health you have probably acquired from the excursion.
Mary
Birth: 1815 Death: 1879-08-29
was much improved on her return. I regret to
learn of Mr Seward’s
Birth: 1801-05-16 Death: 1872-10-10
illness. You would be wise
I think to insist on his going to Auburn with you.
Since Master Willy
Birth: 1839-06-18 Death: 1920-04-29
did not suffer from his mothers
absence I hope he may be induced to journey this way
when the heat of summer has passed away. Remembrance
to my truant son
Birth: 1820-03-09 Death: 1893-07-07
. I live on the hope of his promised
return, to his fathers house. Excuse my haste. I am
pressed for time having to fulfil an engagement.
Wishing you much enjoyment in your sweet retreat
I am truly your friend
J.A. Blatchford
Mrs Mary Seward
Birth: 1769-11-27 Death: 1844-12-11
is tolerably well. My daughter’s
Birth: 1823-10-29 Death: 1852-02-14
kind regards.
