Editorial Note

July 9, 1842 was a Saturday

My dear Uncle,
I shall not succeed here- Cincinnati
funds are at only 5 p.c. discount: could I do anything
by going to C. think you? If I were certain Mr
Starr
Birth: 1781-03 Death: 1851-08-30
would be at home he could affect an arrangement
for me perhaps;- But if my letter should find him absent
nothing would be done. If I should go, & he be away
from home, would it answer for me to do the best I
could there & in whatever way presented itself? The
assignment to Clarence
Birth: 1828-10-07 Death: 1897-07-24
shall be made the first thing
on my return to Florida. Please answer by return
mail, to Florida.
Very Respectfully
Your Affectionate Nephew
Augustus S.
His Excellency W.H. Seward.
