Albany Sunday Aug 28th
My dear Augustus,
Well, I am 170 miles nearer to you
than I was last Sunday – We left Auburn as I
anticipated, Wednesday morning at 3 oclock – Clara
Birth: 1793-05-01 Death: 1862-09-05

came along and Mr Mc Clallan
Birth: 1791 Death: 1860-11-16
accompanied us as far
as Syracuse. At Utica we found your Pa
Birth: 1801-05-16 Death: 1872-10-10
waiting
for us – there we took breakfast in the usual hurried
manner and came on to Albany — reached here at
1/2 past 3 – found Mr Rogers

, Mr Underwood
Birth: 1818-02-08 Death: 1881
& Clarence
Birth: 1828-10-07 Death: 1897-07-24

at the depot – Nicholas
Birth: 1801-12-24 Death: 1893
was also there with the carriage.
The day had been exceedingly warm, we were all tired
and glad to get to the end of our journey – Poor Willie
Birth: 1839-06-18 Death: 1920-04-29

suffered very much from the weakness of his eyes – he
was however very happy to get here again – he remem-
bered every thing perfectly — He was so unwell yesterday
that I sent for Dr Williams
Birth: 1784-09-19 Death: 1870-12-08
who gave him calomel
&c according to the usual practice —

Thursday I was sick all day in consequence of my
journey – Friday we had company to dine – Yesterday
Mr R. Blatchford
Birth: 1798-04-24 Death: 1875-09-04
and Bowen
Birth: 1808-02-25 Death: 1886-09-29
came – they are still here.
I am preparing Clarence to return to Hopkinton next
week – Clara and I have been out but once – we
called at Mr Yates'

and shopped a little –
Frederick
Birth: 1830-07-08 Death: 1915-04-25
wrote to his grandpa
Birth: 1772-04-11 Death: 1851-11-13
the day after we
came down – I am afraid he is very lonesome now
we are all away – I wish if you can find time
you would write to him – I have had no
letter from you this week – if you wrote I presume
the letter is safe at Auburn – I wanted to go to
Orange County this week but your Pa is expecting
Mr
Birth: 1802-02-02 Death: 1884-06-07
and Mrs Webb
 Death: 1848-07-01
next Thursdaay – I am afraid now that
Aunt Clara will feel obliged to go home before she visits
there – she thinks she cannot stay more than two
weeks — The Legislature are still in session
nothing yet has been said about adjourning —
Jenny the deer is here yet – I find her rather
troublesome as your Pa permits her to run about the

the house. I am not in favour of moving her to
Auburn – Our other pets the birds are all well. Bob
 Death: 1844-01-25

has changed his coat – his new feathers are very
becoming – The horses are not sold for the want
of a purchaser – I have a letter from Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03

to answer yet to night — All send love to you –
Your affectionate mother –
F. A. Seward
