Auburn June 19th 1845
My dear Father,
Genl Post
Birth: 1780-11-18 Death: 1846-03-14
gave me your letter and made us a nice visit
You will find that I wrote you about the failure of our loan of $4500
But you overlooked it.
I send you Furbush’s
Birth: 1784
Bond for $1800. The
Mortgage is in the Clerks Office for Recording, and will be sent you
‘as soon’ as recorded. Our draft ^was^ for $1700. You will perceive that
as we advised you afterwards the loan is $1800. I therefore draw
today in the same way for one hundred dollars more.
The title of the mortgaged premises is good – the security
ample. There are incumbrances, but the money remains here to pay
them and we are taking them off. The land is one hundred and
three acres worth $3500.
Very affectionately
Your Son
William H Seward.
The Honorable
Samuel S Seward.
