Auburn March 20. 1849
My Dear Sir
I see by the telegraphic news of
Saturday last, that William V. Brady
Birth: 1811-07-24 Death: 1870-03-31
is nominated
Collector of the Post of New York. Is not your
influence with him sufficient to procure me
an appointment in the Collectors department
and if it is, will you exercise it in a way, that will
lay me under, still, greater obligation to you.
I want to be appointed one of the weighers. I think
that I could discharge the duties of the office
in ^a^ way that would not bring discredit upon
those who are kind enough to help me to the
office, at all events, if successful, it will be my
constant aim to do so. It is possible that I may
meet you, in the City of New York, on your return
from Washington.
Yours truly
A. Worden
Hon. William H. Seward
