My dear Mrs Seward
I happened to be out for
a few moments with a young
friend when your note on Saturday,
^arrived^
as I should have expressed assent
to the arrangement. Since then
Mr. Davis
for a day or two, and at five we
start for Worcester, and I regret
to say I shall lose my pleasure
of a ride with you. I regret it
the more, as we may not meet
again til’l your visit at Auburn
is finished, but I hope it will
be a short one, and that I

shall be able to welcome you
back again before the Summer
closes.
With sincere regards
E Davis
