My Dear Henry,
I have sadly
neglected a communication I
received from poor Mrs
Ingersoll
home – I was so troubled
about you while you were
at home that I forgot her –
You may remember that
She is the Widow of a
soldier
the Revolution – She is I fear
sadly in want – I cut
from her long letter the
account of her husbands
services – which she says
she has sent to Washington

Your short answer to her
former communication
merely saying you had received
hers, was more than she
could comprehend – She
is very anxious to enlist
your influence – In the
course of her letter she
speaks of Mr Conger
he may know her –
Her name is Mary Ingersoll
Her letter is dated Sterling –
I hope if you can do any
thing towards advancing her
claim you will let
me know that I may
answer her letter –
Frances
