Auburn June 2d: 1852.
My dear Uncle:
At the time the subscription list
to defray the expenses of the reception of Gov.
Kossuth
bearer that as I was the only representative of the
family here and standing in loco parentis I
was expected to subscribe for all and subscribe
largely. I recognized my position and knowing
your feelings and what would be your action
were you here I ventured to subscribe $10.00
Five for myself and five for you. The $10.00 I
have paid and $4.25 being a balance of the
rent received by me last week I retained as
your subscription. Was I right in so doing?
Ever gratefully Your Nephew
Clarence A. Seward
