My dear Henry,
A man by the name of
William Johnson
assistance to purchase the freedom of his
daughter
him something by his book. I told him I
thought you would give him more.
He is very desirous that I should employ his
daughter when he gets her which I have
engaged to do conditionally if you approve.
Will you give Maria the enclosed piece
of muslin and let her get me one half
yard of the same from one of those stores
at the foot of 7th street - please send
it in an envelope. This is a business
letter you perceive - all well.
