My dear Mrs Seward,
I am truly grateful for
all your kindness & shall cherish
it in my heart.
I hope my sister
you to-day. She is at a
distance from here, so that
I meet her rarely. But I
know that she desires to
make your acquaintance. It

is kind in you to think of
her, though I am sure you
must like her.
I shall write to Mrs Stowe
on the address. With dis-
gust I read those various
responses & long for a
voice that shall really come
from the heart of our country.
While I write your hus-

duties; but I fear I must
differ from him on this point.
In the enjoyment of yr
rural home I trust you
will soon regain yr former
health.
Ever sincerely yours,
Charles Sumner
