My Dear Henry,
At the time that we were ex-
pecting you in this place you were off on
the Rail Road Festival at Niagara Falls
and had I not been anxious for your prese-
nce here I could ^not^ have been surprised,
There are many considerations why I
should desire your here and now I am
again thrown all a back, I did not
Know how to make any calculations
I feel that it is not only desirable but
necessary that we should come to some
understanding, and I shall leave it
for you to advise me when I shall
expect you, As I said th in a former
letter no sacrifice was to great for me
to make to ensure it consistent with
self respect and right, I lately went
to Auburn to bring it about, do not
I pray you ask of me that journey
again unless it so desirable a result
shall be brought about, give me some

evidence of your confidence in me which shall
approach that reposed in yourself by one
who is now more willing to do so, write
me then freely as to your wishes and
design,
I expect to go down to the city in the
morning and shall probably return the
next day, and in a few days I hope that
I may hear from you,
I hope that Frances
in heath and strength give my regards with
Julias
Affectionally Your Brother
