Auburn December 24
Dear Henry
Fanny
well again to day — but I
told her I would write to
you for her – She has suffered
much during the past week
with excessive debility — owing
to some little excitement she
experienced Sunday & Monday —
As she had no return of the
pain in her side I was
not as much alarmed

as on former occasions
When that has been the excit-
ting cause of her disability
We are all preparing to
enjoy Christmas together —
Fred
the children’s baskets are
ready for the gifts of
Santa Claus OSN — We are having
Christmas weather too — this
morning the thermometer is
at 10 – and the ground
is covered with snow —
Jones Jones, contractor, Unknown has finished and

left us — and my rooms
are very spacious and con-
venient — Abbey
on Wednesday – & she is
as usual doing everything
to make us all comforta-
ble — We enjoy the reports
of the proceedings at Wash-
ington and are in a high
state of exaultation that
Gerrit Smith
such a noble commencement
of his Congressional
career —

Little Fanny has just
been in & says “give my
love to Father — in which
we all join —
Yours most faithfully
