My dear Son,
Your letter of the
18t came this morning –
mine seems much longer
in reaching you – Frederick

left us yesterday
were to stay in New York
to day – the house seems
lonely without them –

will miss Anna
very much – she was al-
ways well and ready to see
company – Last week father
had a party of 200 gentlemen
which I believe was satis-
factory – I hope this closes
our party giving for the
Winter – Fred and Anna
staid a week longer to
help in this matter
& Fred to copy fathers Kansas
Speech which will soon be
made in the Senate.
All the Anti Nebraska
members of Congress meet
once a week at the capitol
I will send you a slip
from N.Y. C. & Enquirer giving some
account of the last meeting
which Father and Fred attended
I could tell you many
political speculations which
it is not altogether safe
to write – nothing positive
will be done about the
Presidential Candidate
until the Philadelphia
convention in June – In the
mean time many persons are
talked of – a new one about
every two weeks – Mr. Greeley
