Thursday July 31 st
My dear Henry
I am glad to hear you
are better though I fear you
are not yet quite well –
I shall be glad when you
can come North – We have
many very hot days here but
the weather is not continuously
warm. This morning is cool
and pleasant after the rain –
The death of John Beach
Birth: 1813-05-19 Death: 1856-07-26

was a sad affair – is it
not strange that his brother
did not go to him when
the message came?
A notice appearing in the paper
that the funeral would be
at the house at 6 last evening
attracted persons to the house
Page 2

to learn there that it was a
mistake – his remains being
left at N. York - I think
of going next week to spend
a day with Mrs Cary
Birth: 1788 Death: 1863-06-22
-
I am much better since I
drive out every day –
Aunty
Birth: 1793-05-01 Death: 1862-09-05
and I go to day to
see about the cellar of
the new house – is it not
better to be stone notwithstanding
the difference in expenses–
you much decide this also –
Shall Will’s
Birth: 1839-06-18 Death: 1920-04-29
house be sold
to a man who will pay
$800 – 5 or 6 hundred the
first year? – he waits
for an answer – he is an
acquaintance of Dennis
Birth: 1827

Be careful about your food
and do not fatigue yourself

if you can avoid it when the
weather is hot – Your own
Frances
Fanny’s
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
watch came yesterday -
