Albany, Thursday,
My dear Father,
I have your
letter. Your notice of the dissolu-
tion of copartnership was duly
received, and has had two
of the requisite four weekly
insertions. I will see that
the certificate of publication
is sent to you immediately
upon the completion of the time
I am glad the
Illinois Central Rail Road
matter is likely to have no

You see that your predic-
tion of all this timing
going the rounds. After
election I am hoping to see
a reopening of the whole Tariff
question – a topic suddenly
grown as popular & interesting
as it has hitherto been
distasteful and neglected.
