My dear Mother
The pressure of
Officeseekers continued till
yesterday. I think they do
not intend to admit anyone
to the Department this
week except on Diplomatic
business. We have visitors
at 7 in the morning & at 11
at night. During breakfast
& dinner there is an incessant
ringing of the door bell so
that Henry
in the hall all the time.
Although I do long to see
you I am often glad you are are
safe from the ringing of bells
clamoring of doors & fumes of
tobacco.
