Buffalo Oct 18 th 1861
My Dear Frances
Our visit to Au-
burn was so pleasant we wish-
ed it longer and yesterday our
jaunt to Niagara Falls was
made so agreeable to us by the
kind attentions of Mr White

that I feel disposed to write
you and to thank you for so
much as we are indebted to
you for
Saturday you remember was
a rainy day and we were
compelled to stay in doors
Yesterday who should meet
us as we steped from the
train at Niagara Falls but
Mr. H. White, who at once took
us to the omnibus to to the
Cataract House, where he told
us to view the Falls on
this side until 1 o,clk, where
he would dine with us and
there go with us over the River
We spent three hours and I
suppose saw more of the
falls, sightes walks bridges
than most people, indeed we
have seen so much more and
enjoyed so much more of hos-
pitality and attention than
we anticipated before we left
home that we both feel grat-
ified and I trust grateful
Mr W. was of great assistance
to us, among the places he took
us was to the grounds a Mr

if the weather had been
somewhat warmer and the
walks dryer it might have
been some pleasanter but yet
it was very pleasant and
we shall not soon forget
it. He took down under the
sheet of falling water and un-
der the table rocks and gave
us much information by the way
and when we remembered that
we became acquainted with him
as your house we connected it
all with you
