My dearest Henry
I enclose you
Serenes
Birth: 1805 Death: 1884-01-19
letter – She tells
me that that Samuel
Birth: 1836
had been studying law
in Madison Wisconsin
and was ready to be
admitted at the
time of his enlistment –
Since Birdsall
Birth: 1791-05-14 Death: 1872-02-08
has
lost the Post Office
Serene has no help
in supporting her
family except from
her sons
Birth: 1844
Death: 1894-05-17
Birth: 1840
Death: 1930-01-01
two are thrown out of
employment being
discharged at the
time when all timid
people contracted their
business – Serene
would not be sorry
to have her son leave
the Army but I think
the young man will
prefer to stay –
If you can do any
thing for him I know
you will – After
writing to you Serene
asertained that there
was no prospect of a
Paymastership & asks
me to say that
almost any thing
else military or civil
will be gratefully
received —
Yesterday it was reported
in town that Charles
Warden
Birth: 1833-07-10 Death: 1883-08-30
was dead –
he is very low with
typhus fever. I went to
see his mother
Birth: 1804-06-10 Death: 1883-12-18
and
found him rather better
instead of worse – the
crisis is not yet passed —
Every body who sees
you tells me you are
well I hope you are
though I cannot well
conceive how you can be –
This first day of November
is charming – I have been
to see the garden & the
cows – Fanny
Birth: 1844-12-09 Death: 1866-10-29
and Jenny
Birth: 1839-11-18 Death: 1913-11-09
are out on business relating
to the comfort of the vol-
unteers – Their shirts
do not come from
Albany yet. Kellogg
Beach’s
Birth: 1833 Death: 1897-05-08
company is
filling up – I believe it
is the last to be completed
in the regiment – Tell
Augustus
Birth: 1834-03-29 Death: 1919-05-02
& Fred
Birth: 1830-07-08 Death: 1915-04-25
that I
have their letters.
May God protect you
all your own
Frances –
