Auburn Aug 9/62
My dear Father
I have just returned
from Albany where I have been with
our War Committee to ask permission
to send another Regt from this Dist
We have already about 1400 more
enlisted altogether the first Regt is not
yet entirely organized we have promised
Geo Morgan
Birth: 1820-09-20 Death: 1893-07-26
to enlist 700 more men
in seven days and are making every
effort to that end, it is generally
thought that my going will greatly
assist in raising the two Regts and
I have offered my services in any capacity
and the probability is that I shall go
and if so I shall put my business
in the hands of Mr. Day
Birth: 1817-02-23 Death: 1878-02-28
under the
advise of Mr. J. S. Seymour
Birth: 1791-04-15 Death: 1875-12-03
at any rate
I shall make some safe arrangement of
my matters and shall allow nothing to
keep me home if the Committee think it is
for the interest of the Regts ^for me to go^ I suppose that if it
is necessary I can get out after six months
Your affectionate Son
William
