Petropolis April 23, 1863
Dear Fanny
It is a very long
time since I have seen
you, but I still remember
the ples-ant times we had
at Auburn and the nice
times we had going about
Niagara. We have got in
the parlor the picture of
you your Father

How is your Brother

I hear that he has got a little

calls all us boys by name
and says a great many
words in Portuguese.
Petropolis is a very nice
place and there are a great
many nice walks.
Each of us boys
have got a garden Walter
has got a fuschia bush in
his garden for it grows wild
in the forest I my self have
seen a fuschia tree
growing over the side of a stream
quite as large as a good
sized Willow tree.
Mother say’s that

I get on very well with my
Latin.
We live very lonely here
for all the Ministers have
gone down but us.
