My dearest Father,
We arrived safely
last evening a little before eight
& were met at the depot by
Mr Perry

all pretty well except

– who is prostrated
by the late hot weather,
& who had just had an
attack of cholera morbus‑

& I went over to see
her last night she walked
about & insisted upon
getting her parrot to show
to me. He– the parrot
is a most satisfactory
pet to Aunty.

It is a very charming morn-
ing– cool & breezy with
plenty of sun-shine. All
here are going on a family
pic-nic to the last summer's
lodge at the lake. Being
somewhat tired, I have
concluded not to try pic-nic‑
ing & and am to spend
the day at Pisgah–with
Aunty.
I wish you could know
how well I feel–even
after all the fatigue of
travelling.
I must not write any more
as we start in a few
moments. Give a
great deal of love to all–
I am looking for a
letter which I hope may
tell me you are all
well, & not oppressed
with heat.
