Auburn. Wednesday
4th July. 1866.
My dearest Father,
We arrived safely
last evening a little before eight
& were met at the depot by
Mr Perry
Birth: 1817-07-08 Death: 1886-01-29
& Will
Birth: 1817-07-08 Death: 1886-01-29
. I find
all pretty well except
Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
– who is prostrated
by the late hot weather,
& who had just had an
attack of cholera morbus‑
Jenny
Birth: 1839-11-18 Death: 1913-11-09
& I went over to see
her last night she walked
about & insisted upon
Page 2

getting her parrot to show
to me. He– the parrot
is a most satisfactory
pet to Aunty.
All make numerous inquiries
about you & Gus
Birth: 1826-10-01 Death: 1876-09-11
& Fred
Birth: 1830-07-08 Death: 1915-04-25

& Anna
Birth: 1834-03-29 Death: 1919-05-02
.
We saw Mr Wharton
Birth: 1808-02-07 Death: 1868-09-09
a
moment as we came through
when he took Molly
x

.
Ellen
Birth: 1844-09-14 Death: 1920-04-14
bore her journey
admirably– and is better
than her family expected
to see her. Mrs Perry
Birth: 1819-10-04 Death: 1898-02-12

came down last night.
She still talks of how
Page 3

much pleasure she had in your
late visit home.
It is a very charming morn-
ing– cool & breezy with
plenty of sun-shine. All
here are going on a family
pic-nic to the last summer's
lodge at the lake. Being
somewhat tired, I have
concluded not to try pic-nic‑
ing & and am to spend
the day at Pisgah–with
Aunty.
I wish you could know
how well I feel–even
after all the fatigue of
Page 4

travelling.
I must not write any more
as we start in a few
moments. Give a
great deal of love to all–
I am looking for a
letter which I hope may
tell me you are all
well, & not oppressed
with heat.
Ever your very affectionate daughter
Fanny
