Auburn. Tuesday,
21st Aug. 1866
My dearest Father,
Your welcome & interesting
letter of Sunday came at noon
today.
I shall have to send but a
short note in return this
evening — owing to a headache
whose only conditions of peace
are entire submission &
inaction on my part. Tomorrow
I shall probably be free from
its rule — & able to write what
I like. No chill today —
fever not high, & cough not
troublesome.
Goodnight — with the best love of
Your ever affectionate daughter
Fanny
