Thursday evening.
23rd Aug– 1866
My dearest Father,
I have a slight
attack of quinsy – which
the doctor
Birth: 1830-06-24 Death: 1891-04-27
considers
favorable – as an
indication that my
system is coming
back to its old con-
dition.
Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
is staying with
me. I was unwilling
to have her write
for fear of your
being alarmed at

the letter not coming
from me. There is
however no occasion
for alarm.
As these sore throats
are tedious I may
not be quite so
well tomorrow – in
which case she will
write for me.
Most affectionately your daughter
Fanny
