Editorial Note

This letter was dictated by Frederick W. Seward to another writer.
Washington, D.C.
11th January. 1868.
My dear Will:
Your letter in regard
to the Hotel I enclose herewith. Father
says you are entirely right, and that
you may say to them that while
he does not wish to build a Hotel,
he will be willing to sell to them
at a reasonable rate any property
that he may have suitable for the
purpose either Exchange Buildings
or even his own house.
Affectionately yours,
General William H. Seward
