Auburn, July 11/69
My dear Gus
I have waited some
time in hopes to advise you that
I had sold your O&F stock but
have been unable to do so yet.
The stock at one time went to 116
and then fell immediately back &
is now 109. Vanderbilt
has got control of it and now
proposes to consolodate all the roads
between Buffalo and Chicago on the
8th of Aug. It is the general imp-
ression that the stock will then go
up. There has been no July dividend
but it is announced that there
will be one when the consolidation
has been made in Aug or Sept prob-
ably 5 per s. There has however
been a 10 per s dividend payable in
30 year bonds of the Co which bonds
sell at 90 cents. Your divd amounted to
$750 bonds & I bought $250 more
to make up an even th $1000 for you

Money has been very tight for
the last month in N.Y. and
White M & Co has been charging
from 1/32 to 1/8 almost every day
this makes the commissions amt
up pretty well and I have written
them unless they would discontinue
these extra commissions to make
up a statement and return the stock
to me as we would not stand it, if
they do I shall either try to carry
the stock for you or get some one
to do so who will not charge such
extra rates. Father
leave Cal for Alaska the 12th & return to
San francisco again and start for Mexico.
You see by the enclosed that I have
a new partner. P
a 1/4 & I 1/2 .
I lost one of my black team the other
day with a broken leg.
I have collected your pay for Mar. April
& May & sent it to Mr. Blatchford
the int. on 5 Union Pacific Bonds
& renewed your receipt at the safe dep. Co
Your affectionate bro
