Dear Father
I have just received
from Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03
a copy of your letterdated "Bay of Bengal Feby 6t"
And am glad to know that
you still continue well and
get along so comfortably.
You have moved so rapidly
that I am afraid though this
is my fourth letter that it
will be among the first that
you receive. Sending it
to Constantinople I hope it will
reach there in advance of
your arrival, or before you
leave there at least.
I have just returned
here from a journey in the
upper part of this State where
I have been to pay the troops.
Some disturbances of late have
caused quite a number of
troops to be stationed in this
vicinity.

havegone on a trip to San Fran-
cisco which we hope will prove
beneficial to both of them.
I was in hopes that I
should be able to go to
some station farther North
this summer but I think
now that the chances are
that I will remain here for
the present.
I suppose by the time
you reach Constantinople you
will have decided whether
you ^will^ come home this summer
or stay another winter abroad.
We shall all be very glad
to see you again safely at
Auburn

one says that he is very much
improved and able to go about
as he chooses.
My regards to the Members of
your party
