Dear Father
I have just
received a letter from Aunty
Birth: 1803-11-01 Death: 1875-10-03

enclosing a copy of yours of March
1st from Calcutta and am glad that
you find old acquaintances in India
who make it so comfortable and
pleasant for you.
I suppose at the date of this letter
you have passed the Isthmus of Suez
and are in the Mediterranean waters.
May I believe it considered the
best time of year to visit Constant-
inople
& vicinity.
My duties here
continue pretty much the same.
I travel in this vicinity paying
Troops some 2 or 3 weeks out of
each two months

The weather here remains passibly
pleasant until the 1st of July after
which the nights are warm and
it is not so comfortable.

& Jenny's
Birth: 1839-11-18 Death: 1913-11-09
Journey to
California has so far proved
quite satisfactory being interesting
and beneficial to the health of
both of them.
The Southern Central I see
by the papers has been finished to
Weedsport. this will here after
be the best method of connecting
with the main Line of the
NY Central Rail Road.
Considerable interest is now
being manifested in New York City
with reference to the anticipated visit
of the Russian Grand Duke Alexis
Birth: 1850-01-14 Death: 1908-11-14

the Newspapers speak of extensive prep-
erations being made both there
and in Washington for his
reception.

Hoping that this letter may find
you in continued good health
and enjoying your travels
And with my regards to the
members of your party I remain
Your affectionate Son
