Harriet Augusta Hamilton Wilkie was a resident of Onondaga and Auburn during the late 1800s. She is likely referenced in Fanny Seward's 1858-1859 diary as being a schoolteacher at the Young Ladies' Institute in Auburn. Harriet is found on the 1860 and 1865 census as living with her mother and siblings in Onondaga, and in the 1859 Auburn directory as living in Auburn and working as a schoolteacher. She married Dr. James Warten Wilkie of Auburn sometime in the late 1860s and became a stepmother to his two children from a previous marriage. She died in 1908 in Syracuse, NY.
