Biography

Clark graduated from Hamilton College, NY; read law with Judge Hulbert of Auburn, and commenced the practice of law in Waterloo, NY in 1826. He held many places of trust both in New York and in Michigan; was elected to Congress in 1833, from Seneca Co., NY, and was the youngest member of the Hours. He removed to Kalamazoo, Mich., in 1842, where he practiced law till 1854; he was again elected to Congress from the district in which is Kalamazoo.

In 1826 he married Miss Caroline Brittin of Auburn, NY, who died November 1853. The four children of Caroline and Samuel were all born in Waterloo. 

In April 1854 Clark married Antionette Ransom, daughter of Governor Ransom of Michigan, in Kalamazoo. They had six children.
