Biography

William Wallace "Willie" Lincoln was the third son of Abraham Lincoln and his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln. Willie died in 1862 from typhoid fever at the White House. After his death the Lincoln family entered a period of deep mourning; this mourning and Willie's death are mentioned multiple times by the Sewards in their correspondence and diaries.
