Cornelia Mason was Lazette's neighbor for many years while Lazette lived in Canandaigua, and her son was Henry Hubert Mason. "Mrs. Mason" is mentioned in 18641125LMW_FMS. Lazette wants to know "if anything can be done for Mrs Mason's son. Mrs. Mason was a neighbor of mine in Canandaigua for many years – her son grew up there from a child to manhood, and is brave loyal and kind." According to the 1855 Canandaigua census, Cornelia Mason was living only a few houses down (a few entries on the books) away from Lazette and Alvah. She fit the description given by Lazette and had two daughters (twins, Cornelia and Cordelia, born c. 1838) and a son, Henry Hubert Mason (born c. 1833). Henry is likely the son mentioned in Lazette's letter.
There is some confusion about Hubert's name - in the 1855 census, he is listed as "Hubert Mason," but in the 1880 census, he is listed as "Henry H. Mason." I'm not really sure which name was his first name and which was his middle name.
In the 1880 census, Hubert is listed as a clerk at the U.S. court.
