Biography

According to the History of Chautauqua County, Hungerford was a Westfield merchant for six years (1837-43). According to find a grave "Sextus organized and was the President of the Bank of Westfield and in 1850 he and wife Maria P (Polly) and Son JOHN ( a cashier at the bank) lived at the Inn run by John WARD they also had a dau Harriet wife of John Johnston. His father was Lot Hungerford

mother Celinda Smith 
1783 – 1868"

Sextus also became a judge later in his life. His youngest brother, John N. Hungerford, who worked for Sextus for a time during the 1830s, went on to become a US Representative.
