Biography

Kinsley was a member of the West Point class of 1819. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in 1825 and resigned from the army in 1835. From 1838 until his death he was the Principal and Proprietor of the "Kinsley Classical and Mathematical School" in West Point, New York. Augustus Seward was a student at the school for two years 1841-1843, before his entrance into the United States Military Academy, also in West Point, New York.
