Biography

Theodore studied law in New Jersey, and was admitted to the bar in 1808. He served as captain of Volunteer Militia in the War of 1812. He served as a Senator for New Jersey on the 28th Congress. He also served as Mayor of Newark, New Jersey, the Chancellor of New York University, and was an unsuccessful Whig candidate for Vice President on the ticket with Henry Clay in 1844.
