Buchser was a Swiss Painter who was commissioned by the Swiss government to paint prominent depictions of President Lincoln, Andrew Johnson, William Henry Seward, Ulysses S. Grant and William Tecumseh Sherman. Theses Americans were admired by many in Switzerland.
