Henry B. Renwick graduated from Columbia college in 1833. He was the eldest son of James Renwick, and was a mechanical engineer and inspector of steamboat engines. He was the first U.S. inspector of steam vessels at the port of New York in 1853. He married Margaret McPherson in June, 1892.
