Biography

The inscription on his grave reads:
"John Paine
First President of this
cemetery association and
until his death Feb. 7, 1852,
to his ready decision and
untiring energy, the fortunate
selection of the grounds,
and firm establishment of
the cemetery are largely due."

He was married to Eliza Paine and FMS sees the couple at church, writing that they "looked very much like old married folks." Frances misspells his last name as "Payne"
