Biography

Lewis Gaylord Clark was the editor and publisher of the well-known literary magazine The Knickerbocker from 1834-1861. After the discontinuation of the magazine, he lived with other writers who had contributed to The Knickerbocker and they published a volume of their contributions entitled The Knickerbocker Gallery. Clark also published the Knickerbocker Sketchbook (1850) and Knick-Knacks from an Editor's Table (1852). He is the twin brother of poet Willis Gaylord Clark who was also a contributor to the magazine.
