Biography

Watts Sherman was born in February 1809 in Utica, NY. He married Lois Sarah Turner on February 26, 1835 and they had one son together, Erastus Corning Sherman, in 1836. Lois Sarah Turner died in 1838 and Sherman married Sarah Maria Gibson on February 2, 1841. Sherman and Gibson had one son together, William Watts Sherman, who became rather prominent as presidential elector in Rhode Island for Theodore Roosevelt and being a member of several political and social groups (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Watts_Sherman). Watts Sherman likely lived most of his life in Albany as that's where he married his first wife and where his son, William Watts Sherman, was born and raised.
