Charles Ledyard Norton is the son of Elizabeth and John Treadwell Norton. He was born in Farmington, CT, and is an American journalist and author. From 1869-1879 he was editor of the Christian Union and became the editor of Outing in 1893. He also wrote several books, some of his chief works including "Canoeing in Kanuckia" (1870), "Handbook of Florida" (1890), "A Medal of Honor Man; or, Cruising among Blockade-Runners" and "The Queen's Rangers." According to Ancestry, Charles married E. Melania Richards in Sept. 1863.
